Day 9

SATURDAY

Amelia woke around 7 and Luca around 7:15.

Amelia helped me start pancakes:

Everyone had pancakes and strawberries:

We were listening to Lady Gaga and then this crazy happened....

Then Grandpa arrived:

I told you how Luca reacted when he saw him... it was so cute

All ready to head downtown:

Amelia and Grandpa went to dance, and Luca and I went to the former-Mean Bean.

Someone smuggled some cars with him:

Sharing a muffin ("cu-cake") with Mama:

We walked through the market and then met up with Amelia and Grandpa, and went back through.

Stopped at the library to get Amelia's birthday surprise.

Saying "hi" to the fishies:

Luca was really into this table with trains and such on it:

I officially have my plan for any possible rainy day next week --- feed them, skype with Daddy, and go to the library to play!

They were having a program where kids had signed up to come and read to therapy dogs.

Luca was pretty interested in this one:

Kissy...

It did a trick with a block:

Came home and dropped off the kids and Dad.  They stayed and played, while I went to Walmart and Kroger.

After seeing how much the kids loved the hula hoops at Megan's, I got them each one:

Luca loves to drag his around.

Came in for lunch.  Dad and I had Chicken Enchilada Soup and the kids had quesadilla and veggies (Luca)/ carrots (Amelia).  Luca wasn't interested in his quesadilla, but ate a bunch of chicken from my soup.

Amelia asking me to wait a sec.  Oh.my.goodness.  Is she 15??

Put Luca down for his nap and Amelia and I headed out.

She asked to stop at a couple of yard sales (I promise...she asked), so we did, and that's where she found her new manatee friend:

The other big yard sale find was a scooter just like her red one, but pink and TWO DOLLARS!  So that should be a cheap solution to an inevitable fight over the scooter in a few months when Luca's ready for it.

Amelia and I went to Costco and Trader Joe's, and then headed back home.

We went downtown for dinner:

The kids inhaled their kids meals -- Hot dog and sweet potato fries for Luca; grilled cheese and regular fries for Amelia; Coney and sweet potato fries for me; I forget what dog dad got (and s.p.fries)

Luca fell in love.... with ketchup.  That's what you can see on the left side of his face.  He was eating it straight up... dipping everything in it, too.

Then we walked through the bookstore, and then to get a big-blue-yum-yum-yum.

Luca had lemon; Amelia and Dad had mango; I had chocolate/peanut butter:

Then we headed home.  Luca saw a puppy and said "doggy baby".  I told him puppy and he said "pappy".  It was really cute.

He's also been calling his small big-eyed monkey (like Amelia's pink unicorn) "baby" and has me kiss it.  He's such a little sweetie.

We fed the bunnies and took one out.  Amelia caught it.... I was really impressed.

Inside for bedtime.  Got them partway through and we headed downstairs for Grandpa goodnights.  They went to bed well.

I came down and started cleaning up, and then I saw the neighbors' daughter skulking around with another girl and 2 guys.  I kept my eye on them, but they just seemed to be hanging out inside their screened-in porch.  Well then I got a call from Ron, asking if someone was breaking into their house, because the alarm was going off.  I told him it just looked like their daughter and some friends.  He told me that they recently had a falling out and she was not allowed there, and the police were en route, due to the alarm going off.  I was talking to one cop when another found her climbing out a window.  I made my exit and they were out there for at least another hour, first talking to her and then securing the house.  DRAMA

Have a good day...hopefully everything goes well with travelling to Perugia.
